... Soundwork

May 10th

Most of my records and sounds are also available via Bandcamp, Spotify and other streaming platforms. The conditions for streaming and producing records are quite poor for non-commercial soundworkers and composers like me and if your financial situation allows you can support me and the labels I have been releasing records with by buying a track or a record.

The processes of sound production are often invisible and very fragile (at least for me), and it is always exciting when these processes are revealed and made accessible through releases or performances and after the investment of many resources. To work and deal with sound is both labour and enchantment. It is relational. It is symbiotic.

My daily engagement with the sonic environment is fuelled by the certainty that sounding, listening, showing and performing are ways of speaking out, slowing down (as a form of acceleration), resisting, healing and attempting to embody (counter)imaginaries of a future that have the potential to become images, sounds and (de)materialities of a present (and that also can form narratives of the past).

If we listen carefully, we will hear what could be in between, underneath, beyond our focus. This might not always be comfortable, but it opens up a spatial possibility of relation by overcoming barriers in thought and therefore also physical barriers.
This state is truly vibrant and an echo of all the histories and multiple truths that we can still recognize and carry within us.

Fluid and in motion. Always up for a shapeshift.

Yours and mine,
truly, that could mean - many realities,
Conny
